Health Care?

Health Care? Is that what this is about?  I don't think so. It's a misdirection. It's about what it always is with these national socialists: power and control. I've spent 6 years in the insurance business and a year working in a hospital. I could come up with better ideas than this bill. I suspect my ten year old could as well.
Consider: Is end of life health care? No. It's obviously  about saving the government money.  Reduce health care expenditures and social security payouts. Emanuel has come out and said that "dementia," a term open to all sorts of interpretation, may not receive services. The mentally ill and dysfunctional (autistic, add, etc.) will be denied. Health care is about providing treatment. This is simply about controlling it.
Further the bill provides for government agencies to come into your home to tell you how to rise your kids. Both before and after the child is born. A clear plan for indoctrination. It will eventually degenerate into determining who can have kids and who can't. And don't worry if we find you are not a competent parent we will take your kids and raise them properly. You do want them raised properly right?
This is health control not reform. And to the extent that it both falls short and extends beyond health issues it is societal and individual control.
And remember laws aren't written in stone. What is bad now can always be made worse later.
Be warned.
And on a side note I learned something interesting yesterday morning on CNBC. European governments block certain pages and information on websites by American biotech companies. Seems they block information on new treatments and drugs. They don't want to pay for them and don't want their people to know they exist.
So much for freedom. So much for socialized excuse  me nationalized health care. But not to fear. once government controls health care entirely innovation will stop. What will be important is controlling the population and culling the herd. The individuals will just be little replaceable cogs New treatments won't be needed because the one organism that matters will be the government and the society it mandates.

Durable goods orders headed South today as the economic indicators keep sending mixed messages. Still, this is not good. Across time there will be continuing problems and  our fearless leaders are on the wrong track. They are in Washington  figuring out how to control pay packages and take over the corporate sector. What is being missed is what our economy is what it has become.
Increasingly we are an information and service economy. Buying services from one another will not build long term wealth any more than building bureaucracies will. Reshuffling the cards does not put chips on the table.
We need legislation to encourage domestic companies to manufacture here and that entices foreign companies to build plants here Tax incentives for new factories, an easing of eco-terrorist  requirements, lowering of corporate taxes. Stuff like that.
Many of the jobs that have gone overseas are in the areas of tech and customer support. (I just love it when some guy calls me on the phone claims his name is “John” and has an Indian accent so thick you can cut it with a knife.) Consumers have to contact CEOs of such companies and tell them they want to deal with an American.
Meanwhile our “servants” in Washington plot to decimate the healthcare system and run capitalism aground in a stormy sea of regulation and control.
The focus needs a serious change. An “Open For Business” sign needs hung on our front door. Until then we will slip inch by inch away from our leadership role.

Red Alert

A common concern in the blogosphere and twitter has been the possibility of  Nazi like brownshirts arising to intimidate the people
Seems like it's started.
Acorn members have been showing up at events in uniform like red shirts. They've tried ordering around the police and decent citizens exercising their constitutional rights  Obama has spoken in the past of the need for a national police force, better trained and funded than the military. To police what exactly? And will the argument finally get made via neglect?  Obama is ignoring the drug lords camped on (and over) our Southern birder. A drug enforcement agent was recently shot Will Mr. "Everything is an emergency" declare another one to try and form such a police force under his personal supervision? And who exactly will they be policing. This stuff would degenerate into policing "UnAmerican" activities? and what would an UnAmerican activity be? Why, anything His Obminess doesn't like, no doubt.
Four years with this guy will be tough I don't want to see eight.

National Health Care And Special Needs

As the father of an autistic child I note that various groups are pushing to get autism covered by insurance companies in the "reform" bill being pushed through. Understandable. But perhaps the focus is wrong.
First things first.  Under what circumstances will autistic kids get pushed into the governments' system? What services will be provided there? As health care gets rationed, and make no mistake it will be, what happens to our kids and loved ones? Will they be denied services because they are less useful to society? Will the governments' needs supplant those of families and the loved ones of those who need assistance?
Considering the government's' history with the VA, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security is this in any form a good thing? I think it's very dangerous.
In Nazi Germany hundred of thousands of special needs people were slaughtered as mercy killings and a drain to the state. History bespeaks a danger here and we must tread carefully.

AMD today broke ground on a high tech chip manufacturing plant in New York We applaud them for building in the U.S.
It does call attention to the fact that so much manufacturing is now done overseas As I type I'm wearing underwear made in Pakistan. I guess they want to cover our butts before they kill us Virtually every chipmaker is manufacturing chips outside the U.S. The military requires that only 50% of parts in it's equipment be manufactured in the U.S.
In a huggy kissy world where we all hold hands and sing Kumbaya this is fine. I'm afraid though that that world exists in alternate universe number 741a. Not here.
As manufacturing moves overseas we also lose skills There is less demand and training for welders and machinists and such.
This is dangerous. Our military can be brought down by  foreign powers denying parts. The economy brought to a halt by foreign governments interfering with chip shipments. We could be rendered naked savages if Pakistan denies us underwear .
This can be addressed and corrected.
The government can adopt policies that encourage building in the U.S. Corporate tax breaks especially targeted to plant construction would be nice. It would also encourage foreign companies to build here. Both these things would help stem the outward flow of jobs.  His Obaminess has an $800 billion stimulus package. It's 90% devoted to social programs. Payoffs to groups like Acorn. Whoopie! Wouldn't it be so much better to use this money to assist in developing plants and factories? More jobs, less social programs.
Wages would have to come down in some industries. We talk a lot about wanting good paying jobs. What about having jobs period? The fact is that we compete in a global market place. To draw jobs back and create new ones some pay reductions would probably need to be made. The sole reason call centers go overseas, just to give an obvious example, is that the people work cheaper. It's no different with manufacturing
We must elevate the blue collar worker in our society. His Obaminess thinks everyone should get a college degree. That's nice. But we can't all be management or bloviating government politicians. My car mechanic plays a far more important role in my life than customer service manager at Target, thank you.  We must not denigrate our needed and invaluable blue collar workers. This is a start on things we need to do. Won't get it with the Socialist In Chief though.  We need change not that we can believe in but that we can invest in.

Let's look at abortion. Many are opposed to it for religious reasons.  Can't say I'm one of those.I do believe it is wrong for ethical reasons.
Consider.
Reality is. We only perceive part of reality, of course. Much of our knowledge comes from applying math and intellect to things we can measure. What this means is that the words we use to describe reality are approximations. Words are our attempt to understand a reality we really can't experience. It also means the words are not the reality.
Applied to people terms like adult, teenager, child, fetus and embryo are artificialities. a person is,in actuality, none of these things. Strip away the words and loook at a person without them and what we see is that a human being is an ongoing process. A person is a process that continues from the instant of conception to the final breath.
If we agree that the violent termination of a person  is wrong, is murder, them it becomes apparent that said termination is wrong at any point in the process's flow. It doesn't matter if it's in the womb or by denying care, by knife or gun, or via euthanasia.  Thus abortion is wrong.
For those demented souls who think the state has the right to determine such things this is a non argument since they believe they can meddle as they please.
For the rest of us who believe in right or wrong abortion is wrong, even if there is no such thing as a soul instilled in the infant at birth.

A point T would like to keep pushing the idea that the democratic party has been hijacked by the socialists. Obama is ni democrat. The people he's putting in power are not democrats. The fastest, mist effective way to end this is to wake up the traditional democrats to what has happened. The blue dogs are more like real democrats. They can be reasoned with.
So what do we do?
We have to raise our voices in our blogs and online. We have to be clear. We are attacking SOCIALISTS, not democrats. We have to  praise the traditional democrats as our brothers with whom we sometimes disagree. We have to find common ground to make war on a common enemy and drive socialists out. We have to, strange as it may sound, help the democrats reestablish control of their own party.
At least that's how I see it.

Obama's health  care nationalization has a hidden problem. As he takes over the system he will want to control costs. This means doctors will get paid less. This in turn will lead to fewer doctors.
Without meaning to  impugn anyone's altruism people who become doctors expect to make a lot of money. It is expensive to become a doctor. Large student loans need to be repaid. Four more years of life are invested in the endeavor.
People won't do it for what Obama thinks is "fair."
And across time a shortage of doctors will deteriorate Obamacare even further.

One more word on China. They plan on getting to  the moon by 2020. India and Japan have aspirations of similar accomplishments. Putin stated his  Desire for a moon base by the early 2030s.
Anyone see NASA getting funding for same? Don't expect it Obama can't buy votes there.
And so we will fall behind un science. Not just in space exploration. Europe has Project Iter, a prototype  fusion reactor, under construction and the Large Hadron Collider.
So we fall behind in science, technology, manufacturing and economic influence. If Obama gets his way we get wealth destruction disguised as redistribution, continued job losses, nationalized industries, and skyrocketing taxes and spiraling downward inferior healthcare.

Is any one noticing what China is doing? They are investing money in all corners of the world. They are buying up resources on every continent. They are establishing trade relationships throughout the world.

His Obaminess is investing in social programs and wealth redistribution. Yeah, that will make us prosperous. Yeah, right.

At a very fundamental level wealth is created when you make stuff. You add value to whatever raw materials you started with. Obama's plans make nothing. They are a consumer of wealth, not a creator. Obama is creating a cesspool of waste and we're going to drown in it.

Let's look at it this way: China exports computers and high end electronics. We export corn and soybeans. Who sounds like the third world country to you?

But all is not lost. Do you still believe in capitalism? Seems like the Chinese do, too. There are several closed end and exchange traded funds that invest in China, Singapore and Taiwan. I suggest you start dollar cost averaging  a few bucks each month into one.

Okay, so what is with Sotomayor? I don't like her. It seems to me a wise Latina woman wouldn't have tooted her horn the way she did.

Hopefully that won't be until after the 2010 election and there will be more balance in the senate.
In the meantime it would be better, politically, for republicans to say, "How wonderful! A Latina woman" and vote her right in. The Latino vote is growing in importance, Sotomayor is sure to get in, and the Dems are getting ammo for 2010.

We should use our blogs and media and voices to lament the death of the democratic party. We must get them to fight back, The best hope to end the socialist movement in this country is, I think, to enlist liberals as our allies against the socialists.

More Class Warfare

Dennis Kneale on CNBC Tuesday night put up some numbers on Obamacare as put before the congress. Pure class warfare. 2.8 million Americans will be expected to pay the health care costs of 48 million. A quarter of these are illegal immigrants by the way. People making one million a year or more will be taxed at over 5 percent. The tax bite, for now, will go down to people making 250k. Business will be required to supply insurance or face fines and have to pay the government (and this helps small business how exactly?)
Tax accountants and lawyers will have a field day. The rich will keep more assets in non taxable investments. The revenue will, I assure you, fall short. And small business will be hit. The HENRYs (high earning not rich yet) will continue to take a beating. Business won't expand, it will contract. Meanwhile more medical resources will be used, possibly creating a scarcity that will drive up costs.
Eventually the government will have to lower the bar on the tax threshold. New definitions, all wrong of course, will be made on progressively lower incomes.
Worst of all this sort of thing promotes a poverty mind set. Many people are being conditioned to think they don't have to try.  There is no reason to get ahead. The government is always there to take it from someone else and give it to you.
Instilling this mindset in the populace is actually the worst crime of all.

Helping Small Business?

The latest idea going round is to make repaid TARP funds available to small businesses through additional SBA loan facilities.
Whoopie.
So businesses getting hit hard by dropping business and higher taxes could borrow more money and get deeper in debt? The only assistance this might be would be to allow some businesses to order inventory in where their ability is limited to do so because of the commercial credit dry up.
Businesses will not borrow money to keep employees on the payroll that can't be otherwise afforded. They won't be expanding.
A far better solution would be to retire repaid dollars and get them out of the system. This would help fight future inflation. Then you cut taxes, not raise them, on small business, freeing up existing capital that can be used for various purposes.
But instead the congress and administration are determined to continue pounding the HENRYs (High Earning Not Rich Yet.) Combined, if you look at it, they want to raise the taxes and then go and loan those same entities money, collecting interest, so they can stay in business.  In other words, in a sense, they want to take your money and them loan it back to you.
Such a deal!

In the meantime this is looking like an ongoing power grab by the executive branch by Comrade Obama. We have the Fed on a power expansion spree. And the Treasury. How long will it be until we have to deal with edicts from these guys?
It's looking more and more like it's not government of, by and for the people. It's looking more and more lie governance of the people.

We Must Be Honest

I believe we must be honest in taking on the democratic socialists,  The fact that they are full of deceit, especially self deceit, does not give us leave to be the same. If they can't be trusted and we appear like we can't be trusted the middle of the road American has no motivation to disturb the status quo.. If we are deceitful, even in small things, then why should we be believed in small things.?
I bring this up because of the photo circulating of Obama supposedly checking out a rather sexy lady's behind. It's a real photo, not Photoshop'd or anything. But it is extracted from a video and depends for it's appearance on mere happenstance. Serendipity.. It's alleged capture of Obama in an embarrassing  moment is pure tripe. I've seen the full video. Obama is looking down, waiting for Michelle to come down a step, and he's obviously watching out to make sure she doesn't trip. As he waits for a couple seconds this nice looking lady goes by at such an angle that some wise guys some where could freeze and cut a "damaging" photo.
I want to see the socialists gone from power and even tossed out of the democratic party (which they have hijacked) as much as anybody. But this type of smear can only hurt the cause. It's so easily refuted it only makes all of us look like twerps not to be taken seriously.
Let us fight our battle on truth and reason. Leave the funny photos to Mad magazine.

Kissing More Freedom Good Bye

While today's discussion involves abortion the issue under discussion IS NOT ABORTION.

Our good friends at the 9th Circuit Appeals Court continues their assault on people's freedoms. They have a long record of putting one group's wants ahead of another groups rights.
This week they overturned a lower court ruling and now mandate that pharmacists sell the morning after pill even of they believe it is morally wrong. It is clearly established, whether you agree or not, that people have the secular right to buy this pill. What is being ignored here is the freedom and right of other people to make a choice as to whether they are going to sell that item. Some will, a fewer amount won't. That is there freedom and their right. As an analogy we have a right to bear rms. If I own a sporting goods store I have the right to choose if I am going to sell guns or not. Your right to own  a gun does not obligate me to sell guns.
Some supporting this action that sometimes a woman lives in a small town with only one drug store convenient. It would be difficult to get to another store 20 or 30 miles away. Boo Hoo. There is no constitutional right to convenience. If I live in a small town that has no gun shop and I want to buy a gun it's up to me to exercise my right by going the extra distance to where guns are available. Further more this situation is easily addressed by having the prescribing physician carry a supply of the pill and sell it to the patient who wants it.
So what's next, 9th Circuit Court?
Mandatory abortion by physicians who don't believe it is right?
Mandatory denial of care to the sick under Obamacare?
Mandatory performance of euthanasia as resources are rationed under Obamacare?
Letting the physically and mentally infirm die because they squander resources that could be used elsewhere?
This is a ridiculous decision that opens the door to the government telling us all what we have to do.

A Second Stimulus?

Oh boy  A second stimulus! The first hasn't been big enough! The economy is worse than we knew!
Blah! Blah! Blah!
The real question is why there was never really a first stimulus? The first stimulus package totaled almost $800 million. Only 10% or do has been spent. Most of it is for social programs. Only 10% is for real infrastructure. And most of it doesn't get spent until 2010, an election year. It's had no effect because it isn't real.
We have no idea what would be in a second package, but if it actually had real stuff in it, like updating and expanding the electrical grid nationwide, then it would be what should have been done in the first place. The original bill would be just plain old government waste and/or expansion.
Why don't we learn from the soon to be crowned world's greatest capitalists?  What they did was simple, elegant and to the point. They sent out vouchers to the populace. The vouchers could only be spent. No paying down debt. No paying down the mortgage. No sticking it in a savings account. It was simply use it or lose it. Spend it or have nothing.
Benchmarking means doing it the way the guy who does it best does it. China has done it better. We could learn from them here.

Honest Joe Biden?

Biden came under ridicule from the media for his latest gaff. What was that gaff? Why, admitting that the His Obaminess and company goofed in calculating how bad the economy would get, He got ridiculed for speaking the truth.
His Obaminess was quickly talking to the press spouting nonsense. He claimed they were given bad information and incomplete information and finally fell back on the "Who'd  A Thunk It?" defense.
The answer to the last, of course, is everybody. When Obama & Co announced their economic forecasts, with unemployment topping out at 8%  and $% economic growth by 2010, every business analyst on TV was scratching his head and saying 'HUH?"
Go over Joe Biden's gaffs. I'm no fan of Biden's but I must say many of them are Joe just speaking a truth. An embarrassing truth for Obama, perhaps, but that's tough.  And I say we get Biden talking as much as possible.  Maybe even get him to guest host some press meetings for Robert Gates.

The Service Employees International Union is pushing to unionize bank tellers at BAC. They've written letters to Timmy G. demanding that  head honcho Ken Lewis be kicked out. Lewis has been attacked by regulators and congress and clearly is no fave on the hill.
According to CNBC the politicos in the Obama administration are rah rahing this idea. The money guys aren't so keen on it.
So will Obama make a call? Will he push to force a union on the company and shareholders want no part of?
Well, the S.E,I.U. contributed sixty million smackers to the Obama war chest and thousands of hours of volunteer time.
Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen.

The Second Amendment. Right!

Before beginning let me say that I have never owned a gun. I have never fired a gun. I have never held a gun. I have never loved or desired a gun.
That being said, I must point out that Iran has gun control. The result is a massacre of the population when a corrupt government is challenged.
The second amendment assures the right of Americans to own guns. There is a reason. A disarmed population is an enslaved population.
One function of the Constitution, abused in later amendments, was to grant  specific, limited powers to the Federal government. There is no such power granted to the Feds. Unfortunately there is an attitude amongst the aristocracy in Washington that if the Constitution does not specifically exclude something they can do it. This is wrong. Worse, unable to disarm the population (yet) the federal government seeks to license and control it. This too is wrong.
The argument doe gun control, and even ownership elimination, is that people get hurt by guns. Crooks rob at gunpoint, Murders get committed. Accidents happen. Guns are risky.
Riskier still, and far more horrific in consequence, is a world where only the government has guns. Eventually  governments always seem to break down into power hungry oppressors of the people. Eventually someone always comes along is just too full of himself.  Eventually every government needs to be reinvented, recreated to turn back the abuse.  But when only the government has guns massacres will ensue and corrupted power becomes almost undefeatable.
Freedom has risks and costs. Not all those costs are paid on the battlefield. Not all costs are paid by heroes who have actively chosen to fight.
Ill take the risks of a society with gun freedoms over the risks of a government run amuck and the sole entity armed, thank you.
Remember. Hitler told the population of Germany they would be so much safer if only the police had guns, You know where that led.

It's long been my belief that the democratic party has been hijacked by socialists. I remember when the democrats, led by the South, had more than it's share of hawks. I remember when democrats fought for aid for people, whether practical or not, but didn't try to control  and micromanage the world. I remember when a democrat named Kennedy had the guts to back our security by facing down the Russians over Cuba,  I was born in an era when a Democrat named Truman had  the guts to take on North Korea  and Red China leading to the prosperous and free nation of South Korea.
What have we got now? A president who twiddles his thumbs while Iran moves closer to  a nuclear weapon. A president who condemns Honduras for rebelling against a power hungry leader's power grab. A president who can't even use harsh language as North Korea sticks it's thumb in his eye with seven missile launches on our independence day. A president who seeks to control every thing down to the light bulbs you can use. A president who takes over  businesses in a manner reminiscent  of Hitler in the 30's. A president that chases windmills instead of pursing natural gas, coal  or hybrid and mini nuclear reactors.
We have a congress that votes on 1300 page bills unread. A congress that approves spending on a scale that would make LBJ cringe.  A congress that votes money to support a proto-gestapo organization like ACORN. A congress  that dismantled every protection built into the financial system in the depression partially powering the financial implosion. A congress that wants to form a green police to control how your existing home should function.
These are not the democrats that I grew up with.
The "left" today is funded by the likes of alleged Nazi sympathizer George Soros, powered by demonizers and heavy handed oafs like Moveon.org.  We have a president who reads Marx. A basic tenet of Marx is that  it's okay to lie to advance the cause of Communism. Is there any real doubt that Obama lies through his teeth? Ask a West Virginian about how  he talked up coal when he campaigned there. Now coal's been thrown under the bus.
The real way to stop the madness that is going on is to wake up main stream democrats to what has been done. to build awareness that the socialist, unable to get anywhere honestly promoting their beliefs and party, have crept into and taken over the democratic party.  To  motivate them to take back their party,
Then and only then can we get back to a viable two party system.

Happy Fourth Of July

Independence Day.
It's a day when once again I must ponder why keep this country together? We have two different groups far apart in how they think the country should be run. No matter which comes to power the other half feels oppressed. Ill will bounds.
Ultimately it is senseless and strife filled. There is no need. Liberals should be allowed to have their own system Conservatives theirs.
We are two nations divided spiritually and intellectually to am extreme.
Should we not, therefore, be two nations in fact as well?
We are on the verge of tyranny .of the minority by the majority, the anathema of democracy. It is time to split into two, For two groups to each go their own way. To become two separate nations, each living according to the dictates and principals it loves.
Time for a new Independence Day.

What should liberals do?

While there are many answers we'd all like to give to that question it is one that deserves a little thought.  Many of their goals are worthy enough - helping sick people who don't have insurance, for example - the problem is there methods. What they miss is that you can't get a moral end result by immoral methodology. As a result they view government as the resort of first choice and believe in stealing from people for their own aims and beliefs through an immoral and unchecked tax code.
There are other choices.

The Gift Of Giving
The libs think the government needs more money, that taxes aren't high enough. They are entitled to that belief and to act on it Uncle Sam accepts gifts. Each liberal in the U.S. is free to write any size check he wants to the government. If they really felt as they claim this what they would do.
Let's look at the respected Warren Buffet. He's been for raising taxes of late. He's also stated on national TV. that his secretary pays taxes a higher rate than he does. (remember in previous columns I've talked about how tax increases hit the Henrys, the high earning not rich yet.). I haven't heard of him writing a check to the government voluntarily. In fact when he dies he's leaving something like 38 billion to charity via the Gates Foundation. If government needs money so badly and does such a good job why not leave it to the feds? And if you're so generous why not give it away while you're still alive instead of waiting until you're done playing in the sandbox?

Charity
Liberals are perfectly free to start charitable foundations, tax exempt and deductible yet, to achieve many aims. Want more health care for the uninsured? Start a foundation and  open up free clinics across the land. Liberals everywhere could contribute. Fact is if they showed me they were doing a good job I'd contribute, too, As I choose and as I can afford.  Instead they try and rip the money out of other people's pocket to have a government that can't wipe it's own butt do it.
And that's where we have a problem.

Of course it could well be that these good deeds and such are not the real aim. Perhaps the real aim is power and control over every facet of life in America and of her people. Perhaps most people who call themselves liberal have been duped by a power hungry leadership, with his Obaminess being the worst of the lot, into supporting immoral actions disguised as crusading do gooders.
Could it be, really, just about plain old power after all?

And if you disagree with me, then you, Sir, are worse an Obama promise.

High Cost Of Ed

Last week Cramer went on that prices were falling throughout the country. Except in two areas. Health care and education.
What do these two things have in common? Third party payers.  Third party payers always drive up costs because the provider of a good or service has no reason to look to your bottom line.
Let’s take universities for example. Every university has a financial aid department. Their job is to find you money to turn over to the school. Grants, scholarships and, especially, student loans. The latter is the worst part. You get shopped around for money and end up in debt to get this wonderful education. There is no attempt to reduce costs. You never see universities pitch themselves on affordability. You are simply a check to be brought in.  There is no need to keep an eye on their expenses or your costs because a third party fronts the money and you pay it back later.
What’s worse, they’ll get you in any major you want. But what if that liberal arts degree sticks you in a field that isn’t well paid? Now you’re stuck with the loan and a useless degree and four years wasted.
Let me tell you a true story.
A couple years back I was shopping for a car. The sales lady and I chatted as we drove around on some test drives. Seems she was a theater major in college. I asked what she was doing selling cars. She replied she couldn’t get a job in theater that pays enough to allow her to pay back her student loan.
So, fueled by the third party student loan racket university  costs keep spiraling upward. It’s as bad as the credit card ripoffs. At least those guys have to put everything in small print.
